Shawn Fields

Shawn Allen Fields, age 50 of Northfield, was born May 14, 1965 and passed away peacefully on January 24, 2016 after suffering a massive stroke. Shawn was born in Willmar, MN to Douglas and Kathleen Fields (Tait). Shawn graduated from Cannon Falls High School in the class of 1984. Shawn was involved in basketball and baseball throughout his high school career. Outside of high school Shawn was on a number of different pool leagues, as he also enjoyed hunting throughout his life. After graduation, Shawn joined the United States Army and married Kriston Grunenwald (Shorter), whom he started a family with having their three children, Ashleah, Kailey and Josie Fields. In the Army, Shawn was stationed at a number of different places and finished his active duty at Ft. Monroe, VA. He returned to Minnesota where he was a full-time member of the Minnesota National Guard and also worked as a security officer at City Center. Shawn was a member of the Cannon Falls Fire Department for over 10 years, which he was extremely passionate about. Shawn started his career with PCL in 1998, as a laborer. Over the next 18 years he worked his way up the ladder to a general foreman. He started a new relationship with Leigh Nordstrom and they were married November 11, 2007. Not only did Shawn and Leigh work together but also enjoyed many things such as motorcycling, snowmobiling, and camping with great friends and family. Shawn, Leigh, and the kids had a crazy, wonderful life, which was full of so much love. He is survived by his wife Leigh; daughters, Ashleah, Kailey and Josie Fields (Hunter Ehlers); his four grandchildren, Brandon, Brooklyn, Alexander and Kenneth (Tres); his father, Doug Fields; sister, Paula Lundell; brother, Scott (Laura) Fields; and a niece and nephew. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Fields (Tait) and all of his grandparents. Visitation for Shawn will be on Sunday, January 31 from 2-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 1 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls.
