Susann "Susie" Topp

Susann Mary "Susie" Benson Topp, 78, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and formerly of Cannon Falls, died peacefully on November 23, 2025 at the Apple Valley Village Health Care Center.

Susie was born in Cannon Falls, Minnesota on May 5, 1947 to Bernie and Mary Ann (Pagel) Benson. She grew up in Cannon Falls, attended Cannon Falls schools, and graduated from Cannon Falls High School, class of 1965.

Shortly after high school, she moved to Randolph where she and her former spouse, David, farmed and raised their children. She worked at a variety of jobs over the years, including Kid Duds and Cannon Equipment. When memory issues started to take a toll, she moved to Apple Valley to be closer to her children and lived in homes that provided her day-to-day care for several years.

She had a good sense of humor and was often teasing others and enjoyed being teased right back. She was a talented cook, bookkeeper, seamstress and artist. She always had music playing in the house, enjoyed playing cards, collecting and watching movies, playing Bingo, and Word Find Puzzles. Her faith was important to her and she was a member of a number of congregations over the years.

She is survived by her four children with former husband, David: Kari (Tung) Duong-Topp of Apple Valley; Jennifer (John) Quinn of Castle Rock, Colorado; Monica Topp of Hastings; and Aaron (Sue) Topp of Eagan.

Susie is also survived by her sisters Linda (Gary) Anderson, Martha McCusker, and Donna (Dennis) Husbyn; as well as her grandchildren Anna, Lexy, Jaden, Peter, Jackson, Jameson, and Jarrett, and many nieces and nephews.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister that died at birth as well as her brother-in-law, LeRoy McCusker.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 at 2:30 pm, with visitation from 1:00 - 2:30 pm, at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls. This service will be live-streamed and available to watch below. Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Cassia Foundation (for Apple Valley Village or Grace Hospice) or donor's choice. The family thanks you for your consideration.
