Thomas William Birmingham, 78, beloved Husband, Father, Father-in-law, and Grandfather, was called to heaven on July 11, 2026. He entered this world on July 15, 1947 in Reno, NV, born to Clyde and Maxine Birmingham. Following the passing of his father in 1953 he and his mother moved to Iowa where he graduated high school in 1965.
Tom was a devoted husband, dad, and grampa. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Tom loved the Lord and shared openly with people about his faith.
Tom was a man of many interests, including classic cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting and fly fishing. He enjoyed sharing stories of his many adventures growing up in a small town being a part of his local church, Boy Scouts, and working on the farms in the area, while learning from the many mentors in his life.
Tom went to computer programming school over the summer while in college and found he had a talent for it and enjoyed the work. This began his career in the field of technology developing in the mid 1960's. Throughout his life and career he navigated many changes while continuing to be a knowledgable and experienced Large Systems Architect.
After his retirement in 2023, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family after a long sixty-year career.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Janet Birmingham; daughter Rebekah (Alex) Hjermstad; son, Daniel Birmingham; granddaughter Elizabeth Hjermstad; and grandsons Tiago, Rafael and Marcelo Hjermstad.
A Funeral Service for Tom will be held Friday, July 17th 11:00 am at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Paul Paurus officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 am) at the funeral home and burial will follow in Cannon Falls Cemetery.
