Thomas Johnson

Thomas Allen Johnson, age 60 of St. Paul Park and formerly of Cannon Falls, died on Sunday morning, July 7, 2013 at his home. Tom was born the youngest son of twelve children to Walter and Elsie (Vickerman) Johnson on July 13, 1952 in Harmony, MN. He attended Mabel-Canton High School, and moved to Cannon Falls in 1973. He was employed at various businesses around Cannon Falls, mainly Kid Duds. He married Gladys Marie Gunderson on September 18, 1976 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. He was an avid farm toy collector, and was an original founding member of the Town and Country Toy Club in Cannon Falls. He also loved woodworking, and country and oldies music. They were seasonal campers at Shades of Sherwood near Zumbrota, and Tom loved to socialize with the many people he would meet! He loved his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin, Richard, Willard, Dale, Paul and Jerry; and infant sister, Nora. He is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Gladys; daughters, Cindy Thompson (fiance Ernie Kidwell) of Farmington and Shannon Johnson (Julia Prokop) of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Cassandra Marie (Derek) Brand of Farmington and great-granddaughter, Cecelia Marie Brand; former son-in-law, Kyle Thompson of Farmington; brother, Warren (Joyce) of Spring Grove; sisters, Joanne Shorter of Spring Valley, Carol (Bill) Stahnke and Wanda (Barry) Rasmussen, all of Mabel, and Rita (Roger) Westphal of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Marian Johnson of Harmony, Marie Johnson of Oroville, CA, Marilyn Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA and Dolly Roush of Dundas; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation from 1-2 p.m., at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews. In memory of Tom, the family will be making a donation to the "Make A Wish" Foundation.
