Anthony Paul “Tony” Kleinschmidt, age 69 of Oronoco, MN, died peacefully at home on Sunday evening, March 19, 2023.
Tony was born on March 15, 1954, in Winona, MN, the son of Henry and Florence (Galewski) Kleinschmidt. He attended Winona Cotter High School, where he excelled in athletics. He was a 3-sport letter winner in football, basketball, and track. He later attended Winona Vo-Tech for two years in sales management. He also attended Winona State University for two years and started his working career at Watkins. After two years, he went to work at IBM in Rochester, where he continued his dispatching career for over 33 years, retiring in 2014.
Tony married Charlene Anderson, daughter of Delmer O. and Ruth Anderson of Cannon Falls, on September 17, 1982. They attended the Church in Rochester, where he was actively involved.
Tony was an outdoorsman and truly enjoyed being and doing everything outside! He was a gardener, carpenter, and landscaper. He loved to ride bike and go for walks or a run. He also enjoyed watching sports. He will be remembered for his love of family, and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Charlene; three children, Abel Kleinschmidt, Danyel Kleinschmidt, and Arah (Doug) Spurgeon; grandson, Jack Spurgeon; granddaughter, James Spurgeon; sister, Kathleen Rowekamp; brother, Mark A. (Kathy) Kleinschmidt; sister-in-law, Gail Kleinschmidt; numerous Anderson in-laws that Tony treasured; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael D. Kleinschmidt; and brother-in-law, Bob Rowekamp.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 31 from 2:00-4:00pm at Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls, with a time of remembrance and prayer to follow at 4:00pm.
