Vernice Erickson

Vernice Ann Erickson, age 81 of Cannon Falls, died surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at The Gardens at Cannon Falls. Vernice was born on October 30, 1934 in Little Falls, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Terese (Moser) Sauer. She graduated from Little Falls High School. She married John E. Erickson on July 26, 1954 in Flensburg, MN. They made their home in Cannon Falls, where she was a homemaker and mother to three daughters. She also worked at various businesses in Cannon Falls, including several years at the Red Owl as a cashier, and before retiring several years ago, worked in the Cannon Falls High School cafeteria. She had been an active member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. She enjoyed camping, "winning" at the casino, doing crossword puzzles, and baking. She loved watching all sports and watching Judge Judy! She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and they hold many precious memories of their times together! She is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, John; daughters, Cindy (Dave) Kimmes, Terry (Jon) Soule, and Lisa VanBoxel, all of Cannon Falls; 7 grandchildren, Erica (Joe) Majeski, Heidi Kimmes, Courtney (Grant) Collins, Aaron (Katy) Soule, Megan Soule, Johnna VanBoxel, and Joey VanBoxel; 4 great-grandchildren, Lydia and Tyson Soule, Lexie Rouse, and Eastin Kubat; brother, Harvey Sauer of Little Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Irving Sauer; and sisters-in-law, Bernice and Delores Sauer. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 9-11 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses.
