Viola Ohnstad

Viola "Vi" Ohnstad, age 90, of Cannon Falls died Monday afternoon July 2, 2012 at Twin Rivers Assisted Living in Cannon Falls. Viola was born January 20, 1922 in St. Paul the daughter of William & Anna (Kogerer) Sager. She was raised in St. Paul. She worked as an aide at the sanatorium outside Cannon Falls as a teenager. On October 14, 1944 she was united in marriage with Marvin Ohnstad in Dennison at the parsonage. Vi worked at several restaurants in Cannon Falls, as an aide at the Cannon Falls Hospital and as a laborer at Cannon Equipment. She liked cats, playing cards, and going to dances. Her grandchildren remember that her cookie jar was always full. Vi had a wonderful Shirley Temple collection. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, grandson Chris Mickelson, son-in-law Clarence Mickelson, sisters and brothers Johanna, Emily Jacobowitch, Richard Sager, Matilda, and two infant siblings. She is survived by her daughter Marlys Mickelson; son Allen; grandchildren Bradley & Jeffrey (Veronica) Mickelson; great-grandson whom she adored Carson; and special friend & caregiver Dennis Larson. Memorial Service will be 11 AM Friday July 6 at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls with the Rev. Dan Forsgren officiating. Gathering time will be from 10 AM-11 AM Friday at church. Inurnment at Urland Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements with Lunderg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls.
