Vivian Quist

Vivian Marie Quist, age 95 of Cannon Falls, died on Tuesday morning, December 4, 2012 at Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls. Vivian was born on April 15, 1917 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Otto and Anna O. (Anderson) Johnson. She grew up in Cannon Falls and graduated from the Cannon Falls High School. She married Ervin W. Quist on November 7, 1936 at the Vasa Lutheran Church. They moved to St. Paul, where she worked for many years at Miller Hospital as an assistant anesthesiologist while her children were in school. As retirement was nearing, they moved to DeBary, Florida. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in DeBary. Soon after the death of her husband in DeBary on August 21, 2001, she moved back to Cannon Falls. She was a resident of Park Street Apartments for many years and a member of First English Lutheran Church. Vivian loved her flower gardens, and enjoyed doing her handwork, especially needlepoint, crocheting and knitting. She was devoted to her husband and family, and loved being with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 65 years, Ervin; granddaughter, Jeri Jo Quist; brothers, Eddie, Theodore "Ted", Clarence "Donkey", and Robert Johnson; and sisters, Florence Cartwright and Doris Egge. She is survived by her sons, Gerald "Jerry" (Freddie Lou) Quist of Heber Spring, AR and James "Jim" (Sharon) Quist of Shoreview; 5 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (June) Johnson, Merle (JoAnn) Johnson and Merlyn Johnson, all of Cannon Falls; and many nieces and nephews and their families. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastors Phillip Ruud and Daniel Forsgren officiating. Memorials are preferred to First English Lutheran Church.
