George Wallace “Wally” Jacobson, age 93 of Cannon Falls, MN, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 10, 2021. Wally was born on February 22, 1928, to Joseph and Anna (Ring) Jacobson on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Eidsvold Methodist Church and was an active member of the Urland Lutheran Church.
Wally farmed all his life until retiring in 2012. Music and baseball were some of Wally’s favorite interests. He was a charter member of the Cannon Falls Male Chorus. He also sang with the Norsemen Choir plus several different quartets.
Wally spent two years in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1956, then farmed in the Zumbrota area for six years before returning back to the home farm in 1962.
Wally graduated from eighth grade country school and later attended the School of Agriculture graduating in 1948. He served 28 years as Town Clerk of Leon Township, was a director on the Farmer’s Elevator Board in Cannon Falls for several years, and served on the SEMN Synod Stewardship Committee Board for six years.
Wally married Kathy (Swenson) on April 4, 1970 and they had four children, Terry (Laurie) Jacobson, Tammy (Todd) Hanson, Trent (Joannie) Jacobson all of Cannon Falls, and Todd Jacobson of Orlando, Florida; his grandchildren, Karissa (Sam), Chase, Kira, Yvonne, Morgan, Preston, Auston and Nicki. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Arlis Jacobson of Zumbrota and many nieces and nephews.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chester, Everette, James, Eugene, Robert, and Allan; and sisters, Helen Glass, Janet and Mildred Jacobson.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 13 at 2:00 pm, with visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm, at Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 Co 9 Blvd, Cannon Falls. The service will be live-streamed through Urland Church's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/UrlandELCA.
Interment will follow at Eidsvold Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandchildren, Chase Jacobson, Yvonne Jacobson, and Karissa Peterson, and nephews, Craig, Dale, and Jeff Jacobson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren, Kira, Morgan, Preston and Auston Jacobson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
