William Bogenrief

William “Bill” Derald Bogenrief, age 77, of Cannon Falls, passed away on October 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota following the progression of Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Bill was born on August 12, 1948, in Ortonville, Minnesota, to Derald and Gloria Bogenrief. He spent his formative years in Brookings, South Dakota, where he cultivated a love for community, learning, and the outdoors. While attending Northern State University, he met his beloved wife, Lynda Perrizo. They married on August 19, 1968, and started their life together in the Twin Cities in 1970.

Bill began his professional journey with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in 1971. His curiosity and aptitude for technology eventually led him to a long and successful career in Information Technology, retiring in 2008 as a Senior Computer Systems Analyst.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bill found immense joy in cheering on his favorite teams, especially in baseball, golf, and college football. He had a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife and loved capturing the world through his camera lens. Bill also enjoyed annual hunting trips to South Dakota each fall. Retirement brought him many warm winters in Arizona, countless hours spent outdoors, and treasured moments with his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Lynda Bogenrief; parents, Derald and Gloria Bogenrief; sister, Shari Wines; in-laws, Rosamond and Kermit Perrizo; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Perrizo.

He is survived by his loving children: Jay (Mikki) Bogenrief, Carrie Niles, and Marlo (Cris) Schmidt; cherished grandchildren: Kaitlin, Andrew, Emilee, Sari, Hailie, Ethan, and Jaeger; sisters- and brothers-in law: Terry (Bradford) Place, Linnea (James) Blotsky, Patricia (Daven) Gile, Michael (Michele) Perrizo; and his dear friend, Mary Irrthum.

A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 24, 2025, at St. Pius V Catholic Church, 410 W. Colvill, Cannon Falls, Minnesota, 55009; with Father Michael McClellan officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Bill will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Aberdeen, South Dakota, at 10:00 a.m. on November 1, 2025, Father Samson officiating.
