Eugene Freiermuth

May 10, 1960 — July 8, 2019

Cannon Falls

Eugene Michael Freiermuth of Cannon Falls, MN, formerly of Hastings, MN, where he was born to Paul and Cathy Freiermuth (Catherine Thompson), on May 10, 1960. On July 8, 2019, Eugene passed away unexpectedly.

Eugene married Holly Kay Erdmann on September 15, 1984. During the time of their marriage, they had two sons, Reid and Taylor.

Eugene was a wonderful father to his sons. Eugene was a loyal brother to his nine siblings, growing up in Cannon Falls. He loved his family unconditionally. He was always there to give a helping hand. Eugene loved each one of his brothers and sisters completely and individually. He had his own fond memories with each one of his siblings. He could be described as having a “heart of gold and loving everyone.” One memory his siblings remember him by, is with having a family of 10 brothers and sisters, there is going to be some mischief. Sometimes this would lead to siblings getting into trouble. When that time came, Eugene would always take the blame. He always had their back, even when he was little. He had an eternal flame of love for his siblings. Eugene would stand up for his siblings whether he was to blame or not. He stood strong for them, even at a young age, because that was his belief.

He will be dearly remembered for his ultimate love of nature. He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time with his family members and siblings, camping, fishing, and especially hunting whitetail deer. His passion was truly about exploring the outdoors in scenic Cannon Falls, MN.

As an avid outdoorsman, Eugene loved the serenity and peacefulness he could discover within nature. No matter where his feet planted, he always knew within mother nature you can find your way out of the wilderness. His intense connection to the outdoors gave him fulfillment of his passion, love for mother nature and the true meaning of freedom.

As a father, Eugene taught his sons the importance of having strong morals. He made sure they knew the importance of caring and loving family and one another. He also liked brightening the days of other peoples’ lives with his sense of humor and would take time to say hello to strangers. One lesson he taught Reid and Taylor is to always help the less fortunate; especially someone that is being picked on or bullied. He always told them that it is not ok, and it is unacceptable to do so.

Eugene is survived by his beloved sons, Taylor Freiermuth of Montana, and Reid Freiermuth of Minnesota; Eugene’s nine brothers and sisters, Mark Freiermuth of Washington, Ed Freiermuth of Minnesota, Kevin Thompson of Minnesota, Chad Thompson of Massachusetts, Victoria Evenson of Minnesota, Vonda Brandl of Minnesota, Anne Harty of Minnesota, Paula Stoffel of Minnesota, and Debbie Hall of Minnesota. He is also survived by his long-term partner, Vicki Ayshford and her daughter, Jacquelyn Qualle, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. Eugene is predeceased by his father, Paul Freiermuth; his mother, Catherine Thompson; and step-father, Melroy Thompson.
