Cannon Falls

Jean Ann Hommedahl, age 78, went to be with the Lord suddenly on March 30, 2020 at her residence in Cannon Falls. She is greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jean Ann Hommedahl was born to George and Agnes Jean (Law) Van Guilder on July 9, 1941, in Stanton township.  She attended Cannon Falls Schools where she graduated with honors in 1959. On July 8th, 1961, she married Sherman Hommedahl at Urland Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. She worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for over 32 years before retiring to help on the family dairy farm south of Cannon Falls. Jean Ann was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord, her family, church and community. In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, she loved working in her garden, cooking, traveling, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with family and never missed a sporting event for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Sherman, her children Jeffrey Hommedahl (Denise), Mindy Hommedahl and Brent Hommedahl. Grandchildren Alecia Liese (Hommedahl) and her husband Matthew Liese, Jessica Hommedahl, Reid Hommedahl, Cody Hommedahl, Nicole Peters, and Ruby Hommedahl. Great-grandchildren Kenzie, Ellie, and Graham Liese. Sisters Patricia Van Guilder, Sandra (Donald) Hanson and sister-in-law Arlene Law and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Agnes Van Guilder, in-laws Gladys Thomas, William Thomas and Everett Hommedahl, baby Hommedahl, brothers and sister Fahey Law, Larry Van Guilder, Mike Van Guilder and Anita Budenski.

A private interment ceremony was held in April of 2020 with only immediate family due to Covid restrictions. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 9th, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Urland Lutheran Church, 6940 380th Street, Cannon Falls, Minnesota 55009.
