Lois Lundell

August 15, 1926 — July 30, 2019

Cannon Falls

Lois Elizabeth Lundell, age 92, a lifelong resident of the Cannon Falls area, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2019 at The Gardens of Cannon Falls.

Lois was born on August 15, 1926 in Stanton Township, MN, the daughter of John A. and Elizabeth M. (Reichling) Traeger. She attended District 7 and District 14 Country schools and Cannon Falls High School.

She married L. Quentin Lundell on September 18, 1943 at St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. They farmed in Cannon Falls Township, where she was a homemaker and mother of four.

She was active as a 4-H leader and helped her children with their projects and exhibited her flowers, crafts, and food items at the local fair. When the children were older, she went to work as a part-time cook at the Cannon Falls Hospital and she sold Stanley products at Hosts parties in the area. Later she worked with Lorentz Meats and the Cheese Cave before retiring in 1985. Quentin died on June 25, 1989 and she continued to live on their farm until moving to her new condo in Cannon Falls in 1996. She loved being active and enjoyed her 17 years in the Ridgebrook community with her many friends where they played cards four or five times a week. She was a avid reader and a talented china painter having two or three projects going at one time. After her husband had passed away she and her niece Ione Lundell, became traveling buddies enjoying trips to Hawaii and Alaska to name a few. She loved to be busy and playing games and cards with family and friends. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. She was also active in the Golden Agers, Cannon Falls Historical Society and the Red Hats.

When age and time took its toll and she needed extra personal care, she transitioned to Twin Rivers for a couple of years and then to The Gardens of Cannon Falls in 2016. With each move she accepted the new changes and continued to make new friends along life's journey. At the Gardens she quickly adopted the title of “Queen of the Gardens” from her children and she made her daily rounds around the facility to visit with residents and staff alike. She was always engaged in activities such as cards, bingo and of course the music, her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quentin; daughter-in-law, Diana Lundell; and brother Robert and infant brother Howard Traeger.

She is survived by her four children, James and his wife, Diane, Harry, Patricia and her husband, Gary Anderson, and DeRoy, all of Cannon Falls; 14 grandchildren, Thomas (Kristi) Lundell of Honolulu, HI, Jason (Lisa) Lundell of Cannon Falls, Michelle (Steven) Lutz of Shoreview, Kelli (Daniel) Scowcroft of Andover, Joshua Lundell of Cannon Falls, Sarah Lundell of Rosemount, Melanie (Arturo) Fuentes of Lonsdale, Melissa (Ignacio) Rodriguez of Anaheim, CA, Timothy Anderson of Cannon Falls, David (Renee) Anderson of Brooklyn Center, Anna McCann, Chad Lundell, Chet Lundell, and Dustin Lundell, all of Red Wing; 24 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, Olivia, Aliya and Ezekiel Pono Lundell, Jana and Jordan Lundell, Ava and Briana Lutz, Taylor, Ethan, Kylie Rose and Josie Scowcroft, Matthew Lundell, Nathaniel Lundell, Naomi and Anthony Fuentes, Alejandra, Miguel and Ariana Rodrigues, Madison and Morgan McCann, Kristina Lundell, and Jillian Lundell; and many nieces and nephews.
